For now. The important thing is that there is an alternative place for people to go when Reddit does things they don’t like. Everytime Reddit does something that angers their users this place will grow.

Yeah I think In a year or two this will be just as good as Reddit, maybe better. Personally I prefer Lemmy, it reminds me of Reddit before it gained mass appeal. The important thing is now there is a viable alternative to Reddit. Everytime Reddit does something controversial, this site will gain a wave of new users.
Taxation was the main reason for the war. Britain had levied some new taxes to recoup the cost of the French and Indian war. It put a significant strain on the economy.
I think most revolutions just lead to a new ruling class that is just as bad as the old. It didn’t take Stalin long to become just as bad as the Czar. After fighting a war to stop taxation from Britain, one of the first things Washington did was put down a rebellion to enforce a federal tax on whiskey.
Democracy is good for the oligarchs. Trump is a populist. The oligarchs definitely don’t like him. Even the Koch family is against him.
You don’t need a college degree to work in the trades. This is a point of contention because I’ve heard people say many times they don’t want their tax dollars going towards someone’s liberal arts degree. I’m a wastewater operator. I have a degree but allot of the people I work with don’t.
I only use it when I’m on desktop. Their mobile app isn’t bad in my opinion, but I just refuse to give them my data.
I noticed allot of the trails in my area are mapped better than on Google.
This is my favorite front end for openstreetmaps. The only problem is I live in NJ and most addresses are missing. I usually just get coordinates from Google maps and add them manually.
I chose Lemmy.ee largely because they are federated with every major instance.
If that happens then nothing will change. Mastodon will still be Mastodon and Metas new site will be a standalone site.
At the end of the day Mastodon could just defederate. And that works in reverse too. More people will sign up for P92, and then once their comfortable in the fediverse they might migrate elsewhere to get away from Meta.
I think Meta was talking about using activitypub, which means you would be able to view the site from Mastodon. I know allot of people are against this, but I think it might make Mastodon better.
I use this https://gitlab.com/magnolia1234/bypass-paywalls-clean-filters/-/raw/main/bpc-paywall-filter.txt works well for NYTimes. you just add this list to your favorite adblocker I use Firefox with Ublock
