I love Arch and Hyprland, but when I need to spin up some linux machine ASAP that can be used by normies I will install Linux Mint.
a passerby who want less latency… :)

Agreed
Gnome is bloated. It needs seconds just to oprn start menu/app switcher/or something like that on my low end laptop… :/
It also uses more ram at iddle.
Nah, Gnome is already bad on my battered 2017 i3 lenovo laptop… I am on arch btw… XD … so the bloat should be minimal.
Not all people has the resource to buy state of the art laptop…
XFCE is da best! KDE is second. Gnome is distant last. Lol
laugh in Tiling WM and XFCE… XD
No worries, Lemmy is alive. Lemmy and Fediverse in general is better to grow organically.
A fediverse specific glitch.
I agree with you!
I didn’t say we should harass admins, I’m saying it’s up to us as a community to either move to an instance that defederates or if you know what you’re doing, stay on an instance that does federate and don’t add content to Threads.
I don’t imply that it is you, but the harrassment did happened.
It bothers me that after leaving for-profit social media, a lot of people here are totally fine going straight back to them. Have we really learned nothing?
I think it is different, when we use their services on their platform, they are our lords. They can do anything to our content and identity there with little to no retaliation potential. When we interact with them using fediverse, we can hold our ground and control what data we cede to them to interact with their users.
What can we do as user though? Other than whining which make instance admins and moderators job more difficult, we can only do very few things to stop meta. Fediverse is free, it is better for us users quietly migrate away from instance that don’t align with our value (in both ways) than harrasing instance admins. At worst it will make admins rage-quit then all of sudden your (or our) instance is gone like that mastodon.online…
It works… I can see your post.
At least your password hash not accessible by anyone but you… and your dm is also only accessible by your recipient and his/her admin… 😅
I think the in the current implementation, your post views is not public. But any data you have is still accessible to your instance admin.
Nothing private in fediverse except when you are selfhosting yourself.
I agreed with this take. Just rebuild (plus giving support at cheaper rate than redhat) is kinda disrespect to hardworking opensource programmer at redhat. Sure redhat is also disrespecting users for canceling contract on those who shares the code, but it is their right and disrespect level is lower than those rebuilders. If they really want to clone redhat, they should copy centos stream, do the job make them stabler then sell it. It is better for opensource community than just to leech redhat.
I think there are benefit of killing twitter, mocking el*n and skirting europe regulation on moderation laws. But the worry is there, I hope the devs stand their ground and rejecting any doubious modification from meta on fediverse protocols.
Laugh in Cinnamon…
I was grow up using windows xp and 7 btw… XD
