  • Hey there’s another long pasta on here that has some true stuff and some untrue stuff.

If you want to go for it then I think you should. Another poster uses a safety razor and that’s what I used to do too. Plenty of shave cream or I sometimes got one of those ones you can use in the shower, I think they’re designed and sold as ladies leg razors.

Always use plenty of moisturiser after shaving with a razor. It will itch a bit at as it grows back in, try not to scratch though as you’ll irritate the skin and maybe get pimples.

You can also use a clipper, this won’t go as close so you won’t have the itch growing back and moisturising won’t be as vital. Be careful though as they can be sharp and you can catch yourself (I mean this goes for all sharp things near your bits). You’ll have like really short stubble to begin with this way which can be easier to manage and also means you still have that bit of friction. If you’re clean shaven and moisturised you will be very smooth.

The pasta talks about having a stinky ass after shaving and being all shitty. I never had this issue because I just cleaned myself properly after going to the loo, don’t let that scare you just clean up properly.

  • I think lemmy is too small at the moment to downvote in the same way people did on reddit. It’s still growing and we need people to post content to build the site and everyone’s engagement, downvotes for just disagreeing are going to discourage a whole new group of people who didn’t post on reddit because of getting drowned out in the noise. Look in all the question posts about how people are enjoying lemmy and you’ll see a bunch of them.

I’ve just been moving on and ignoring things I disagree with, no upvote is enough punishment in my eyes. Saying that I’ve been giving out upvotes to most things to encourage people to post and comment more. If something is clearly gross and offensive it’ll get a downvote and possibly a report, but that’s so rare in the communities I’m going to. If it’s a really off topic comment or whatever then yes it’s downvoted because it doesn’t belong.

If there’s something I really, really disagree with but don’t want to get into a conversation about it I’ll just block the user. That way I don’t have to see or deal with their opinions I disagree with anymore and can just move on with my life.

I guess that’s a really, really long winded way of agreeing with you lol. I’ve been a lot more liberal with the upvotes and have really changed my downvote behaviour too.

  • Just popping in to say I don’t think lemmy.ml ever defederated from lemmy.world, they just had issues sending info to each other during the really busy weekend due to all the new users. They’re definitely federated now, just checked their instance list at the bottom of the page.

I personally blocked the Beehaw communities I used to be in before they defederated because the only people who’d see and be able to interact with my posts and comments would be other lemmy.world users and it would be like a weird little echo chamber.

No idea if Beehaw will federate again, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see but there’s a lot out there in the mean time. And if you really want to join in Beehaw you can always make an account there.

  • Thanks for working so hard on this and keeping lemmy going. This instance seems to have become synonymous with lemmy as a whole for some of the new comers so keeping it up and running is really helping to keep the new comers on board, this can only be good for all of lemmy in the long run!

Really appreciate the transparency about what’s going on behind the scenes too. It’s nice to know what my donation is doing and I hope you have time for cappuccinos.
