  • I mean a country which in and of itself is been prominent in conducting the most deplorable violence on so many countries. Trying to curb any civil rights for the people the country subjugated. Regardless of its turmoils external or internal they kept what the imperialist west and its ambitons intact. And they kept going several lengths to keep it intact.

What I am trying to say is I don’t think america is going mask off in 2 years. If its history any indication it was off all the time.

  • I disagree. I put the nation wide exam as an example to show how this data is being given to a private entity. The state already has consolidated this type of data with the aadhar system they put. They even make people re submit the data in order to keep it up to date. Aadhar is linked to every thing ranging from loans or license or voter id. They even linked it to rural schemes for employment and it was collosal wreck.

Also any branch of the police or military already do surveillance on people who are deemed radical by the sangh. That is why I included the pegasus software in the comment. The surveillance apparatus is already well prepped at targeting anti hindutva sentiment and curbing it. The whole bhima koregaon affair is a good example of it.

  • I’ll paint a picture of India cause I live here:

Long ago when there used to be nation wide exams the procedure used to be : give a brith date proof and completion of school. The exam centre just verified that.

Years later as in recent years, the centers which conduct exams have been run by corporations. They take eye scans, fingerprints, photos, addresses, schooling data and much more. This includes students who are finishing school to graduates and post graduates.

Now why am I talking about this. Well to illustrate on what level data is being collected very openly and also being sold off.

Also India’s fascists have been pushing for very obvious racist citizenship plan which is just a glorified ethnic cleansing program.

Not to mention all the leaks regarding usage of Mossad software pegasus to spy on countless people and even get some of them killed.

So all of that makes me wonder why India is not a prime example of surveillance state. Hmmmmmmmm

  • My dad and I watched interstellar at the theater when it came out. Halfway through it the characters arrive at some icy base. The icy base is marked by a large American flag. My dad leaned into to say that westerners can’t help themselves from planting the American flag and be very exceptionalist.

With any media under the american hegemon its one way or the other going to peddling what the empire deems fit.

  • Thank you very much for all these great linked threads.

I did look at the weixelbaum article and what I gleaned as much about the bombing. I guess my contention with the article is with the way they talk of books about american capital in europe or gladio are conspiracy drivel. I read more on weixelbaum writing about higham saying his book is more for conspiracy feeders. I think weixelbaum doesn’t see capital and monopolies relations to western policy especially regarding dulles brothers. I disagree with weixelbaum there about that this stuff is all baseless conspiracy until some sealed records say otherwise. But that is another topic. I guess I can see why parenti made that inference.

As for fascists, yeah they are put to task by the ruling class as reaction to salvage collapse rather than let communists take reigns.

I would say aesthetically always preferred gnome but my laptop which is pretty low end ran slow on it. Kde is in that ballpark for my laptop in terms slowdowns but for the most part it floated through. That was when I used like manjaro.

But I moved on to antix for stability. It has icewm that they configured for the distro. I loved it.

Due to some hardware issue I tested out other distros to see if it was hardware issue or not. Currently my laptop has gnome on it I think.
