  • What I never quite understand/know is where internet based services land. If I run a cloud based storage company / web design company or such, the servers are on my personal property and therefore should be considered allowed. Where does that start becoming non “personal.”

It’s like charging someone to park their ideas/data on my personal property. Which I imagine would be considered private property instead. Where is the nuanced line?

    Anyone care to explain?

  • Interesting that of the very few words I could have recognized in German that I remember that one. It used to show up in textbooks in the U.S. when studying WW2. Blitzkrieg being the German air bombings.

Now I am wracking my brain to see what other words I might remember in German.

Mostly keep going back to snitzel, beers and lederhosen. Aka the american stereotyping german restaurants (poorly Im sure). But fuck is the beer and snitzel good… now I want a big pretzel and beer cheese. I wonder if vegans have a decent beer cheese. *wonders off to scour the internet about which animals are most prominent in German cheese, I always want to assume cows, but the Italian use of Buffalos for Motzerella always has me guessing now.

  • Sometimes people are just hateful. A Christian I worked with was always very forward and speaking of god at least once a day. I lived in Panama City Beach in 2018 when Hurricane Michael came through. The storm turned to the East at the last minute and PCB they had been told to evacuate (many evacuated into Panama City being it wasn’t told to evacuated which is to the East). Base of the story, PC got hit harder than PCB. Several times I heard that coworker saying he hoped another hurricane came and hit PCB (where he lived as well) because he didn’t believe the people there had learned “gods lesson.”

He didn’t care how many people lost their homes and jobs.

  • In my experience, most chain restaurants back of house line cooks get paid fairly low. So let’s say the highest paid linecook gets 18 an hour. They work 8 hours and make $144 that day before taxes and it is added to their check. Most of the servers in the front of house would make around $150 as well but they worked less hours. (Usually 5-6 hours). They also walk with the tip money at the end of the night. Then they claim what they wish to because the government can’t prove how much you made in tips. Many claim they made far less, others claim what they made for other reasons.

It is common to see servers make twice what cooks do. Which creates an atmosphere where front/back of house don’t get along all the time either.

  • That part it sounds as if they get. I believe what they are saying is if you have an instance of 1,000 users that is sick of rick and morty, that gets federated with a instance of 20,000 users that really love rick and morty, now their instance sees 20,000 active users posting rick and morty memes and jokes in every comment thread. Thats where the whole “they brigade” concept comes from. The 20k users will push their hivemind onto the 1,000 until they either stop logging in or block that instance from their user. Which now every comment thread says 300 comments but when they open it actually has less than 15.
