In addition to our ability to throw shit, humans also have some of the best endurance that mammals have to offer. An example of this is the Human V Horse race in Wales. The race is a 22-mile / 35-kilometer marathon that takes place in mountainous terrain. Normally, a horse would beat a human in a race without a problem. But in a marathon, humans actually stand a chance with an occasional victor in this specific annual race. All due to our exceptional endurance.
Put the projectiles and endurance together, and we make for a terrifying hunter. Imagine you’re some other animal out in the wild. Maybe you’re really fast or really strong. But if a determined human really wants to try and kill you, there’s no out-running it. It’ll catch up eventually. And if you choose to fight the human, they’ll get the first blow.
VPNS with port forwarding matter if you want to stay anonymous while using P2P services.
If you’re doing a P2P related activity over a VPN (or otherwise), port forwarding is very important for improving speed or enabling the service at all. That’s because your router blocks incoming traffic from certain ports by default, ports that will be used with a P2P connection. To get around this, you can ‘forward’ a port that can be used for said P2P activity, letting your router know that the traffic you expect to see from a specific port should be let through.
You can simply leave port forwarding to your personal router, but if you want to stay anonymous while participating in P2P connections, then you’ll want to use a VPN service. If a VPN service doesn’t utilize port forwarding, then any P2P connections you use will either be straight up impossible, or very slow. For example, you wanted to host a gaming server without giving away your actual IP address, then a VPN with port forwarding is desirable. The same can be said for torrenting.
Hmmm, after some quick googling, it looks like it could be a client side issue. I’m getting a 400 Bad Request ngix error. I tried clearing my cache and loading it in a private window to no avail. I’m on Firefox.
The other gifs from gifer.com work fine, so I’d say it’s not a big issue. Just kinda strange.
This link is dead now
That’s a new hell-on-eath I wasn’t aware of. Yikes.
I feel the same and am on the spectrum myself. I feel that if I don’t say anything when something immoral is said, by not acknowledging it as immoral I’m tacitly supporting it. After all, if it bothered me, why didn’t I say anything?
Of course, there’s some nuance to when and how to have an argument. But I feel there’s a much larger desire to keep the peace among my other family members. Even though some of those family members are really shitty people.
The hottest 21 days so far!
I like the idea behind this extension and would love to use it. However, I would really appreciate the ability to tweak the blocklist. Not that I enjoy seeing or hearing about Trump everyday, but I do want to stay in the loop with the ongoing court cases he’s getting rammed with. If I never hear or see Elon, Zuck, etc. again then I’d be happy.
If you don’t mind sharing, which subreddits are you still following on reddit? Do you think they might move over eventually?
Unfortunate but inevitable given the API changes. I only used teddit for a short time to check on a few subreddits during the protest/blackout period. This really marks the end of me visiting reddit in any form or fashion now.
I’ll make a single exception for this post, as it’s complaining about the people complaining. But if I hear someone complain about someone complaining about someone complaining, then so help me.
While most of these are a good rule of thumb, I disagree with ‘Always Happy to Help.’ > ‘No Problem.’
‘I’m Always Happy to Help’ is a fine response, if you’re actually willing to make your time available for the recipient at the drop of a hat. Sometimes that’s called for, but I would only reserve it for a few very specific circumstances. I also don’t see an issue with saying ‘no problem’ most of the time. There are situations where something a little more formal is called for, but 90% of the time ‘no problem’ should work imho.
It remains to be seen. Imho, replacing the mods might as well be as bad as a ban. NCD has a really specific culture, and the shitposting really walks this tightrope between hilarious and annoying. The current mod team has, in my opinion, done a fantastic job of walking that line. Banning ERA posting is a good example. I’m not confident that they could successfully reshuffle the mod team without hurting the culture.
NCD was one of my absolute favorite subbreddits, and one of the few communities I was truly sad to leave behind. It looks like it may be destroyed anyway. Hopefully this means more users from the NCD community will move to federated communities like the one I’m familiar with on sh.itjust.works.
Plus for any 3rd party apps that are scabbing for reddit, NSFW subs won’t show up.

I bet on the 12th, there were a lot of lurkers on kbin/lemmy. Now that 3rd party mobile app folks are properly being forced off, they are properly making the jump and creating accounts. Welcome, if that’s you!
Isn’t that just a soft ‘rule’ established via Reddiquette?
